In almost no time at all, Dexter Jones has appealed to the eye, the minds, and the souls of anyone in the New York scene who consider themselves fans of underground and cultural art. Born in Brooklyn, he has a deep background in spoken word poetry and the performing arts. He started his own business, SirReal Photography, in an effort to find a more behind-the-scenes way of expressing himself. Now using photography to tell his stories, Dexter is one of the youngest artists to have work featured in the Fela Kuti exhibit at the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI), the Dandy Lion exhibit at MoCADA, and Neekid Blk Gurls in the Rush Arts Gallery curated by Danny Simmons. He's worked with such acclaimed artists as Dread Scott, Patra, Brian Kirhagis, Grammy Award Winners, Arrested Development, Derrick Ashong of Oprah Radio, and more.
In the highly saturated New York scene of photographers, Dexter R. Jones has somehow been able to stand out as an artist. His work is fresh as he is young. More photographic accomplishments are expected to come and are eagerly awaited. History will be made.
